Plant hire
Some jobs are not a shovel-and-wheelbarrow problem. A plot that needs levelling before a build, a trench for services, a pool excavation, a stubborn tree stump, or years of overgrowth on a vacant erf — those want a machine, an operator who knows its reach, and a truck standing by to take the spoil away.
That last part is where most plant hire falls down. You hire a digger for the day, it piles everything neatly beside the hole, and then you discover the pile is now your problem. We run both sides of the job: the machine moves it, the truck removes it, and the site is left clean.
Three things decide whether this goes well. Access: the machine has to physically reach the work — measure your narrowest gate or side passage and tell Cliff the number. Services: know where the water, electrical and sewer lines run before anything breaks ground; a municipal plan or a service-locate is cheap compared to putting a bucket through a water main. And spoil: decide up front whether excavated soil and rubble is leaving site, because that is a truck booking, not a digger one.
Send photos of the site and the access route and Cliff will tell you honestly whether the machine is the right tool — or whether two men and a skip would do it cheaper.
One contractor, both halves
Cliff looks at access, slope, services and what has to come off the plot before anything is quoted. Guessing at this stage is how site jobs go wrong.
Clearing, levelling, trenching or breaking — with the operator included, not hired separately as an extra line on the invoice.
Spoil, rubble and cleared vegetation leave on the same booking, tipped at a licensed site. You are not left with a mountain beside the hole.

Nobody thinks in cubic metres. Everyone can picture a wheelbarrow. Drag the slider to roughly how many barrow loads are sitting there, and we'll tell you what it needs — then send it straight to Cliff.
A builder's wheelbarrow holds about 0.1 m³. Twenty-five of them fill one 2.5 m³ skip.
About 1.8 m³ — comfortably inside one 2.5 m³ skip. Leave it standing while you fill it over a day or two, then message Cliff to collect.
