Prunings, grass, palm fronds, branches and stumps cleared and taken to green-waste composting. A clean load means no sorting fee.

Green waste
Every Helderberg garden hits this point. The municipal bin takes a bag or two a week, and then you cut back the bougainvillea, or the milkwood gets a proper trim, or the palm finally goes — and suddenly there is a pile on the verge that is not going anywhere by itself.
Garden refuse is a clean load, which is the good news: it goes to green-waste composting rather than landfill, so there is no sorting fee as long as you keep the builder's rubble and the black bags out of it.
Two things drive garden clearing here. The spring cut-back in September and October, when everyone tidies at once and the green-waste sites get busy. And the summer fire season, when clearing dry growth back from the house is not tidiness — it is defensible space. If you are on the mountain side of Gordon's Bay or backing onto veld in Sir Lowry's Pass, that cleared buffer matters, and it matters before the wind picks up, not after.
Book early in both windows. Same-day is usually available, but "usually" gets thinner when half the Helderberg has the same idea on the same Saturday.
One thing that costs you money
The most common and most avoidable extra charge on a garden job: a few black bags of household rubbish tossed onto the green pile while nobody was looking. The moment that happens the load stops being compostable green waste and becomes a mixed load, which means the R375 sorting fee and a different gate.
Same goes for the bits that creep in during a garden makeover — old irrigation pipe, broken pots, shade cloth, the remains of a wendy house. None of it is a problem to remove; it just needs to be quoted as what it is. Point it out in your photo and Cliff will price the whole lot properly in one go.
Landscapers and garden services: if you are clearing a site regularly, talk to Cliff about a standing arrangement rather than booking job by job.

A builder's wheelbarrow holds about 0.1 m³. Twenty-five of them fill one 2.5 m³ skip.
About 1.8 m³ — comfortably inside one 2.5 m³ skip. Leave it standing while you fill it over a day or two, then message Cliff to collect.
